SOUL FOOD FESTIVAL – Saturday, November 16th, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Danville’s Community Market. The Festival celebrates the positive influences African and African-American culture have had on our region’s customs, culture, and cuisine. We’ll have a community dinner (12-1) and soul food challenge (judging will start at 11:30), during which we invite you everyone to submit favorite dish(es) and compete for blue ribbons in four different categories: main dish, side dish, dessert, and bread. To submit your entries for the competition, please complete the survey mentioned below.
Starting at 11 a.m., we will also have arts and cultural presentations featuring exhibits of Danville’s own history with civil rights, vendors displaying and selling cultural artifacts, live music, dramatic readings, etc. We will also have games for kids during the event. Any arts and cultural presenters (poets, painters, graphic designers, dancers, rappers, etc.) will be showcased throughout the event.
