Our Civil Rights: A Common Table
September 18, 2018
Begun this past May, A Common Table is a discussion series open to the public and coordinated by History United, a program of Virginia Humanities. A Common Table, facilitated by Ina Dixon, a doctoral student at UNC-Chapel Hill, explores food, race, and history in local and national culture. The discussion will take place on the second-to-last Tuesdays of the month from 5:30pm-7:30pm in the Danville Public Library Auditorium.
This session features film director Jamie S. Ross, who will discuss and show clips from her newest documentary on Southern food, At the Common Table. Ross is the director of Red Dirt Productions (www.reddirtproductions.org) and has worked for over thirty years, writing, directing, and producing documentary and educational work on American history and culture.
