History United hosts monthly networking meetings at various locations around the region to encourage collaboration through history. This area is rich in history and culture! Lets explore that together! If you are interested in getting involved, or just want to know whats new in local history, join us on Friday, September 20th from 5:30-7pm.
This month we will be meeting in the Callahan Hill community at 144 Callahan Hill Road, Danville, to tour a one room school house pre-Rosenwald. Historian Annie Wilson Mosby preserved and restored her childhood school, The Harvey Colored School. After many years of hard work all renovations are complete and the school house is open for tours. The Callahan Hill community inhabitants were descendants of the Wilson, Perkins, Keen, and Hairston Plantations nearby. Come out for an evening of networking and storytelling. Refreshments served!
